Fairfax, CA (8/2/2017) – With apologies to Robert Frost –

“I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I — I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.”

We try to take the road less travelled during our outdoor adventures. The trip to Alpine Dam definitely qualifies! Today, my co-pilot, Terry Smith and I drove our charges to a place they hadn’t been before. The beautiful weather only magnified the scenery. Never Stop Exploring!

From Wikipedia: “Alpine Lake is a reservoir in Marin County, California. Formed by Alpine Dam, it provides water to the Marin Municipal Water District. Below the dam lies Kent Lake. Fishing is allowed and Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, and trout can be caught. Boats are not allowed on this lake. Alpine Dam (national ID number: CA00204) is a gravity dam which was completed in 1917. It is 524 feet (160 m) long and 143 feet (44 m) high, with 8 feet (2.4 m) of freeboard.”

Our weekly excursions are a great way for our residents to keep their sense of adventure as we explore the beautiful Bay Area. For more information on the programs available at WindChime of Marin, or to make an appointment for a tour, please call (530) 414-9700.
