Petaluma, CA (November 2016) – One of the key philosophies of Windchime of Marin is promoting the independence and individuality of our residents. In addition, Windchime also encourages residents to participate in community service, believing that our resident’s life experiences are an invaluable resource.

As an example, for the last eight years or so, the Phoenix Theater in Petaluma has played host to the Jesus Night Thanksgiving Dinner, an event that serves between 75-100 teens, young adults and homeless men, women and families. For many, this occasion is the only “family” they will be able to celebrate Thanksgiving with. With strong participation from local (Petaluma and Santa Rosa-area) churches, this event relies on volunteers to provide the food and staffing to make an event of this size a success.

This year, Vibrant Life Director Valdete Lane, brought this service opportunity to the attention of the staff and residents of Windchime, and the response was more than generous. Windchime’s Director Christine Yedica, agreed to donate a turkey, along with mashed potatoes and vegetables prepared by their chef, Jose Lima. Further, Valdete and one of our residents volunteered to help serve the meal as well.

The attendees of the dinner were humbled and thankful for the generosity of food and compassion shown by the volunteers.

Windchime of Marin takes pride in playing an active role in the community with a spirit of service to others.  For more information on events like these, or to volunteer at Windchime of Marin, call our Vibrant Life Director, Valdete Lane, at 415.482.4100.
