Novato, CA (10/20/2017) – “The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider’s web.” ~ Pablo Picasso
Marin County has no shortage of things to see and do, although some take a bit more searching for than others, especially when keeping in mind the appropriateness for those in Alzheimer’s care. Studies have shown that art can help those with Alzheimer’s and dementia with short- and long-term memory recall. In fact, our Art Therapy program is an important part of our weekly activities. And while we can’t always make a quick trip down to the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco, we have our own modern art museum here in Marin.
Located in the center of Hamilton Field in Novato, the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art, connects art, community, and artistic expression. The Museum offers free contemporary art exhibitions that showcase local, national, and international artists, with new exhibits on view every six weeks. The MarinMOCA campus also includes over 55 working artist studios where visitors can see artists creating “what’s next” in the visual arts. We spent an hour at the latest exhibition, AbstrAction, and here’s some of the works we saw.
WindChime is Marin County’s specialized memory care community, nestled in a wooded residential area of Kentfield near the College of Marin.
