Kentfield, CA (02/25/2017) – “O Brasil é lindo maravilhoso!” Yes, Brazil is wonderfully marvelous, and residents and guests of WindChime of Marin found that out firsthand during our recent Vibrant Life®Carnaval Party.
With beautiful dancers Zoila and Dominique from the Aquarela Brazilian Dance Ensemble and live music from Wallace Leite and Diogo Sabre of the Pure Brazil Band, we were treated to a slice of the six-day Brazilian festival held between Friday afternoon and Ash Wednesday.
Our chef, Jose Lima and volunteer Janete Mendes (Vibrant Life Director Valdete Lane’s mother), prepared festive Brazilian hors d’oeuvre and snacks for the party attendees.
The Pure Brazil Band began by treating us to several types of Carnaval music from across the different regions of Brazil.
Wallace told us how you can travel the whole country with the music, each style coming from different parts of Brazil. Sambas style took shape in the region of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo but with roots in Salvador, Bahia. Axe Style from Salvador City and vicinities. Forro Style from North East of Brasil, and Baiao from North East of Brazil.
At the same time, Zoila and Dominique danced to the music, demonstrating the high energy moves that Carnaval and Samba are known for. Then they led an impromptu dance class for residents and guests who were brave enough to join them on the dance floor! Before the dancers left, they were kind enough to pose for pictures with the residents, families and staff members.
As we concluded, families and guests remarked that it was our best party ever and asked that we bring the musicians back for another performance. WindChime would like to thank our volunteers, vendors, and professional guests for helping to make our Carnaval Party such a rousing success. The Vibrant Life® program is proud to host events like this for the residents in our community. For more information about WindChime of Marin, please call (415)482-4100.
